Holidays are the perfect time to spend quality moments with family. One of the enjoyable and educational activities is crafting. In Kalibaru, a village located in Banyuwangi, East Java, our family found the opportunity to engage in crafting activities that not only enhanced our creativity but also strengthened family bonds.

Crafting Activities

In Kalibaru, many locals possess skills in various types of crafts, from bamboo weaving and batik making to pottery. We visited a workshop that offers crafting classes for tourists. There, we were taught how to make simple bamboo weavings by a local craftsman who was very friendly and patient.

All family members, from children to adults, participated in this activity. We learned how to cut, arrange, and weave bamboo into beautiful shapes. This activity was not only fun but also provided valuable lessons on the importance of patience, precision, and teamwork in creating a craft.

Enjoying the Sunrise Beauty at Bromo

After spending time in Kalibaru, our journey continued to one of Indonesia’s most iconic natural tourist destinations, Mount Bromo. We were very excited to enjoy the sunrise at Bromo, an experience that many tourists long for.

Journey to Bromo

We departed from our accommodation in the Bromo area at dawn, accompanied by Mr. Aman as our minibus driver, who was very experienced and friendly. Mr. Aman accompanied us on our journey to Penanjakan, the best spot to watch the sunrise at Bromo.

Watching the Sunrise

Upon arriving at Penanjakan, we joined other tourists who were already waiting for the sunrise. As the sun began to rise in the east, an extraordinarily beautiful view unfolded before us. The sky changed from dark to orange, red, and finally bright, creating a stunning panorama with the backdrop of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the majestic Mount Semeru.

Seeing such spectacular natural beauty made us feel amazed and grateful. This moment became one of the highlights of our trip, providing unforgettable memories for the entire family.

Enjoying the Sea of Sand at Bromo

After enjoying the sunrise, we descended to the vast sea of sand at Bromo. This extensive and exotic sand sea is the result of Mount Bromo’s eruptions, creating a vast expanse of volcanic sand. Here, we walked around, enjoyed the scenery, and took beautiful photos.

We also had the opportunity to visit Pura Luhur Poten, a temple located in the middle of the sea of sand. This temple is a place of worship for the Hindu Tengger community living around Mount Bromo. Visiting this temple gave us insight into the rich culture and religious practices of the local community.

Conclusion

Our family trip to Kalibaru and Bromo was a very memorable experience. Crafting in Kalibaru provided us with the opportunity to learn and create together, while enjoying the sunrise and the sea of sand at Bromo presented magical moments that we will never forget. With the guidance of Mr. Aman, who was professional and friendly, our journey became more comfortable and enjoyable.
